Market breadth
Sector rotation (RRG)?
How to read it
- Leading (top right) - the sector is outrunning the market and its relative strength keeps building.
- Weakening (bottom right) - the sector is still ahead of the market, but its relative strength is slipping.
- Lagging (bottom left) - the sector trails the market and the gap keeps widening.
- Improving (top left) - the sector still trails the market, but its relative strength is rising.
A healthy cycle runs clockwise: Improving → Leading → Weakening → Lagging and round again. The point with its tail shows not only where a sector stands now but where it is heading: a tail curving up and to the right means strengthening, down and to the left means weakening. RRG answers "which industry is stronger than the market right now", not "which stock to buy": once you have picked a strong sector, look for the individual securities in the screener. The calculation is simplified and is not advice.
